The state chapter of Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees, AUPCTRE, in Rivers State, has elected new officers to pioneer the activities of the union in the state.
The election, which saw the emergence of Comrade Patrick Igbo as the state chairman with 76 against the 38 votes scored by Comrade Simple Joe Akwa .E. with a void vote, was adjudged to be free and fair.
Other elected Exco members include: Comrade Anucha Charity Nkem, State Vice Chairperson; Comrade Gbaraedo Bright, 2nd Vice Chairman; Comrade Douglas Ibim Ezekiel, State Treasurer; Comrade Orupabo A. Emmanuel, State Secretary Finance; Comrade Tobins Tamunominabo, State Secretary Administration; Comrade Oguebue Maureen O., State Secretary Welfare and Comrade William E.Onyemaechi, who was elected unopposed as the State Internal Auditor.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman who was sworn in alongside his Exco members thanked the national president of AUPCTRE and the immediate past state chairman, Comrade Amb. Henry Urombo for the peaceful conduct of the elections.
The new chairman, Comrade Patrick Igbo, while addressing journalists shortly after his inauguration, promised to consolidate on the efforts of the immediate past administration and ensure carrying everybody along.
Recall that the immediate past state chapter chairman, Comrade Amb. Henry Urombo was in the recent AUPCTRE national elections, elected as the national Treasurer of the union.
