The Urohobes in Rivers State have been called upon to key into the loan facility being offered by the Urohobe progressive union, so as to enhance their economic base in this recession period.
Dr. Felibens E. Okoro, President UPU, Rivers State Chapter made this call in a three day economic programme, tilted “Skills Acquisition: The agricultural Alternative.” said there was need for individuals to look for another source of income, especially from the Agric sector, so as to overcome the present economic recession.
He said, “days are gone, when one depends on one stream of income, you must trade or diversify your source of income. Urohobos in Rivers should come to terms with global trend of diversifying their sources of come. The training we will give during this programme would be able to make anyone to become an entrepreneur in the Agric sector.”
He stressed that the Urohobo Progressive Union is much concerned about the welfare of its people and the reason why the skill acquisition training was put in place.
“I therefore encourage all persons that took part in the training to make good use of what they have learnt”.
Mr Okoro advised loan benefactors to endeavour to pay back their loans, so that others, particularly those within the Union, can also get theirs.
