The elders, chiefs, Owhor holders and the youths of Orochiri Community have commended the Rivers State Governor, (Barr) Nyesom Wike over the appointment of Dr. Samuel B. Kalagbor, as the substantive Rector of the just re-named Port Harcourt Polytechnic.
In press statement made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt, Rivers State and signed by the Community Development (CDC) Chairman, Comrade Nwobueze Charles Kalagbor said that the governor has done noble for the appointment and confirming of our illustrious son, in the person of Dr. Samuel B. Kalagbor, as the Rector of Port Harcourt Polytechnic.
According to the statement, ”Appointing Dr. Samuel Kalagbor is a welcome development. We know he will put his wealth of experience to play in the development of the institution and the education sector in general”
The statement further said, ” We also commend the Rivers State Governor (Barr) Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, the Rivers State House of Assembly for the up-grading of the former college of Arts and Science (RIVCAS) to be known as Port Harcourt Polytechnic.”
”This new development and change of status, the polytechnic will be recognized throughout the country, while more Rivers indigenes will have access to higher education ”.
The statement also congratulated the governor for his one year in office and for his developmental strides, especially in the area of road construction, pointing out, ”We the good people of Orochiri, Rmukalagbor in Port Harcourt Local Government Area will continue to support your transformational agenda for the new Rivers State and the good of Rivers people.”
They enjoined the state governor to remember the construction of the Waja Canal, so as to help stop the constant flooding of the community whenever it rains, adding that, ”the Waja Canal should not be a project that the governor should forget, because of its great importance to us. We plead for the construction and the channeling of the Canal,” the statement noted.
